Your post has a lot of healthy and helpful tips to live by for dieting. I always stress to anybody trying to lose weight that it CANNOT be a diet, diet is such a four letter word, it has to be a life change, you have to be willing to change your lifestyle and give up the bad eating habits in order to make any progress in the weight loss department. And yes changing what you eat and the amount of calories you take in will cause weight loss but it will only go so far, if you are looking to lose a lot of weight you have to choose to exercise at least thirty minutes a day as well. The best advice I ever got when I decided it was time to change the way I looked and felt, was to start slow with baby steps (ie: if you drink a lot of soda and you need to change over to water then concentrate on that change before you try anything else, once you get that switch made and it is working for you for about two weeks straight add the next step, to cut out some of the calories) don't try and change everything all at once or you won't stick with it. It is a lengthy process but once you make the change you will feel so much better you will wonder why it took so long to do it.

It depends what you think a body builder consumes. Body builders always eat healthy. When there at the stage of putting on size they'll be consuming a lot of carbs which is something you wouldnt be doing because if you want to lose weight you'll be looking at low carb diets. The reason your probably not losing weight is because your putting on muscle which is much denser than fat. Muscle is heavier than fat. Scales are a really bad test of weight loss. Your best off taking measurements (biceps, legs, chest/bust, hips, waist), or comparing the fit of a tight piece of clothing. Also depends what exercise's your doing. Are you doing weights or cardio or both?

It is absolutely the truth, I have been eating clean for a while now and what a difference it makes. I feel 100% better, lots more energy, better endurance, even cut down my running time by 5 min. On the last race!! My favorite food is lentils and quinoa. Use lentils in my salad, with my chicken, even in my sauce. Quinoa I use with applesauce and mix fruit, in yogurt, it does not have much flavor by it self, so it picks up the flavor of what it's begin put into. It actually tast very good, and it's so good for you.

I liked how the writer ties in other aspects to energy needs other than nutrition because energy like creating a higher work ethic involves simultaneous actions. Who is this writer? Shes a superstar!

Rick, Great question and thanks! It depends on a few factors including the individual, type of activity, and how early. First thing in the morning, say a 5 or 6am run, you can probably get away with a few sips of water before you head out the door. For weight lifting, I recommend putting something in your stomach whether it's a protein shake or toast with nut butter. This will fuel your muscles for the work out. It seems like the body can tolerate less fuel if you choose cardio. But again, we are all individuals so it takes some trial and error. If you wake up starving, eat a little something, and have some water, but not too much. You don't want your stomach performing too much work while you are trying to work out.
